SPARC Internal Review for 2013 NSERC Strategic Project Grant Competition

The SPARC Office is pleased to announce it will once again be running an Internal Review process for the 2013 NSERC Strategic Project Grant competition (see full details and deadlines below).

Thanks very much for passing on this information to interested faculty and/or fellow colleagues who are considering applying for this funding program:

SPARC is currently accepting registrations for Internal Review (IR) for the April 1, 2013 NSERC Strategic Project Grant competition.

Registration Deadline: Thursday, February 21, 2013.

Due to the NSERC Strategic Project Grant (SPG) competition timing, an Internal Review (IR) program will only be offered for those who can provide a well-developed draft of their SPG application by Thursday, Feb 28, 2013, 5pm.

Those interested in participating in the IR process are asked to please register by Feb. 21, 2013.

Please note that any researchers failing to register and/or submit all of the required IR documents by the outlined deadlines, will be ineligible for the IR process. Also, please note IR requests will be treated on a first-come, first-serve basis, and registering for IR does not guarantee an appropriate reviewer will be found for every SPG application.

You can register for an Internal Review of your SPG application by sending an email to, in the SPARC Office. In this email, please provide the following details:

  • Your name, Email address, Department, list of Co-applicants
  • Title of your SPG grant, your professor rank (Asst. Prof., Assoc. Prof., etc.)
  • Any Faculty who you would prefer NOT to review your grant
  • Indicate if this submission for SPG funding is a new application or re-application
  • Brief summary of the research project (~half page)

IR feedback will be returned to the applicant by March 14, 2013.

Note the UBC Internal Deadline for NSERC SPG applications is March 27, 2013. Once again, the final NSERC deadline for SPGs is April 1, 2013.
