Typical grant facilitation courses and workshops address “bigger picture” issues, demystify the research process, and more, serving to develop, maintain or enhance your skills. In addition to sessions that are specifically designed for grant facilitators, also consider those that are offered to researchers and administrators.
Course and workshops of interest may include technical and business writing, editing, project management and ethics. Funding agency- or opportunity-specific sessions are also informative and useful, and may be offered by your institution or the agencies themselves.
Many courses and workshops are free, but for those with a nominal fee, find out if you have access to professional development funds for courses and workshops by speaking with your supervisor, your department’s administrative manager or your union representative. Continuing education opportunities may even be covered by departmental or grant funds.
